Tell us a little bit about your organization and how  you support exchange students in Australia?

Student Exchange Australia New Zealand Ltd is one of the leading providers of exchange programs in Australia. We send and receive over 400 exchange students each year. We have a network of local coordinators around the country who provide first level support to hosted students. Students can also call our office and speak to our Program staff if they have any questions or concerns. Students will meet our staff at the arrival orientation when we will go over all the details of the program and talk about rules and expectations. Students will also know how to make use of the support structure available to them.

How can German students best prepare for their stay in Australia?

Read and research what you can about Australia. Speak to previous exchange students who have experienced life Down Under. Make sure you pack a sense of humour!

Why should a student choose to come to Downunder?
 

Australia is a unique and exciting destination. It is a diverse and fascinating country that has magnificent wildlife, awesome beaches and the locals are not bad either! Australians tend to be easy going and friendly.

Why did you decide to work in the area of high school exchange programs?
 

I travelled extensively as a merchant navy officer in my youth and benefited from these types of programs as young adult. I understand the power of these opportunities and enjoy providing these experiences for others. I have spent over 20 years managing exchange programs so I have plenty of experience.

What do you enjoy most about your work?
 

Encouraging others to step out in to the world and look beyond their local street corner. There is a big and fascinating world to be explored. Get in to it. You will never regret taking the step.
